Ontario Petroleum Institute
Founded in 1963, the Ontario Petroleum Institute Inc. (OPI) is a non-profit industry association. The OPI has members located across Canada and the United States. Membership categories include oil and gas producers, utilities, drilling contractors, field supply and service, leasing and land companies, consultants (geological, petroleum engineers, geophysical), trade associations, government agencies, financial, insurance and legal services.
The OPI publishes an annual directory, an annual magazine and newsletters. It also hosts training, technical and social events. Proceedings from OPIs annual conference are published and are sold to libraries and companies throughout the western world.
OPI objectives:
- Foster and advance the interests of those who are connected with the Ontario industry
- Encourage responsible exploration and development
- Engage in study, research and communication
- Operate as an industry forum to furnish it with knowledge of developments concerning laws
- Coordinate with stakeholders in the development of legislation and regulations affecting the oil and gas industries
- Inform the above stakeholders on the significance of the industry in Ontario
