Calgary Economic Development (CED) is Calgarys lead economic development agency, committed to marketing the Calgary regions competitive advantages, pro-business climate, and superior lifestyle across Canada and around the world.
CED concentrates on industry development for Calgarys key economic drivers: information and communication technology, transportation and logistics, energy, manufacturing, financial and business services, film and creative industries. CED is also responsible for the Calgary Business Information Centre.
Situated in Western Canadas business centre with the largest number of head offices in Canada per capita, Calgary Economic Development works closely with stakeholders from business, partner agencies, educational institutions, the community and all levels of government.
In 2004, the Calgary Economic Development team completed 16 investment projects, resulting in 1,075 new and retained jobs, and occupying over 1.5 million square feet of space.
Using a hands-on approach, Calgary Economic Development is working to further the success and growth of existing businesses, helping small and medium businesses grow their markets globally, and promoting the Calgary region as the ideal location for business investment. To accomplish this, Calgary Economic Development has committed to a set of operating principles to get the job done: to work with business and partners proactively, collaboratively and responsively.
