Year in Review 2009
The Centre for Energy declared "consumer power" the top energy trend of 2009. Groups around the world continued to add their voices to the call for responsible development of energy resources, increased energy efficiency and reduced energy consumption. We put on fresh face in 2009 with our new portal design and Norm hit the road with his virtual cross-country road trip 'Energy Drives Canada'. In 2009 the Centre for Energy also conducted a research poll that examined attitudes toward and awareness of energy among Canadians.
Year in Review 2008
Canadians were shifting the way they think about energy and in 2008, the Canadian Centre for Energy Information shifted the way we talked about it. Demand for energy information was at an all-time high, and, at the Centre for Energy, so was the supply. In 2008, the portal saw steady growth in traffic, with 497,000+ visitors, up 58 per cent compared with 2007.
Year in Review 2007
As energy and the environment gained greater significance globally, access to balanced, credible and timely information about the Canadian energy system became even more critical. To meet this need, the Centre for Energy made some substantial changes to the nature of the information it provided as well as in the ways it provided that information. (788KB PDF)
Year in Review 2006
In 2006, four years after its inception, the Centre for Energy reached more people, more effectively, than ever before. Nearly a quarter of a million people accessed the Centre for Energy’s web portal, resulting in more than 30 million hits. Sales of our print publications continued to grow as did our reach and profile in Canada and the United States. (908KB PDF)
Year in Review 2005
The Centre for Energy portal increased its average number of visitors per day by161 per cent, its number of portal hits by 58 per cent, the number of unique visitors to the site by 75 per cent and witnessed a growth of news update subscribers to more than 13,500 contacts from interested organizations, companies and individuals from around the world. Year in Review 2004
The Centre for Energy supported 42 energy-related conferences, presentations, trade shows and education-oriented events. We more than doubled the number of organizations serving as our partners in energy and recorded consistent growth in portal statistics as we continued to expand and deepen our range of Canadian energy information services.
